Lincoln Memorial
The Lincoln Memorial is one of the most recognizable sites in Washington DC. Vietnam Veterans Memorial
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is one of the most visited memorials on the National Mall. It honors those who served and lost their lives in the Vietnam War. The memorial features two black granite walls inscribed with over 58,000 names of those Americans who’ve sacrificed their lives for freedom. At its center stands a bronze statue known as “The Three Soldiers” which symbolizes those who fought in battle. Korean War Veterans Memorial
The Korean War Veterans Memorial pays homage to the soldiers who fought and died during the Korean War. It features nineteen stainless steel statues that represent a platoon of soldiers trudging through a combat zone. In its center stands a triangular pool with a granite wall engraved with quotations from those who served in Korea.
Jefferson Memorial
The Jefferson Memorial is dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States. Located on the south bank of the Tidal Basin, visitors can take in breathtaking views of the Washington Monument and other DC attractions while they admire one of America’s founding fathers. The marble building beneath a columned hall features a bronze statue depicting Jefferson holding a copy of his most famous work, the Declaration of Independence.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial is one of the most popular attractions in Washington D.C. Located just south of the Potomac River, this memorial proudly honors the 32nd president of the United States who led America through two of its greatest crises: The Great Depression and World War II. The memorial design pays homage to Roosevelt’s four terms in office and includes several sculptures, waterfalls, and a large electronic display that subtly foster thoughts on government and freedom.
